Hassan Nazer

Biography:
Hassan Nazer, born on September 8, 1979, is an accomplished British writer/director with Iranian heritage, currently residing in Scotland. In 2000, at the age of 19, Hassan sought refuge in the United Kingdom. In 2006, he started studying film and media at Aberdeen University. Hassan’s early feature films garnered recognition in Iran, including notable titles such as ‘BLACK DAY’ and ‘HERE IRAN’. His internationally acclaimed film, ‘UTOPIA’, was Afghanistan’s entry in the foreign film category at the 2016 Academy Awards.
His latest work, ‘WINNERS’, received co-financing from Screen Scotland and was chosen as the official UK entry in the International Feature Film category at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023.
Hassan has further enriched his cinematic experience by serving as a jury member at numerous film festivals, including the ‘All Lights India International Film Festival’ (ALIIFF), 2016. He was also the jury president at the SAARC Film Festival, Sri Lanka, in 2019 and BAFTA Scotland in 2022.
